Common Spatial Development Strategy of the V4+2 Countries
Common Spatial Development Strategy of the V4+2 Countries (hereinafter Common Strategy) is a common document of the V4 countries (The Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary) and two partner states (Romania and Bulgaria) in the field of spatial development and spatial planning.
The preparation of the Common Strategy (2010–2014) was carried out by Steering group, composed of representatives of national ministries responsible for spatial development, and by Working group, consisted of national experts dealing with spatial development and spatial planning Ministry of Spatial Development CZ (Department of Spatial Planning) was the procurer of the Common Strategy, while The Institute for Spatial Development was the coordinator and the processor of the chapters.
Topics of the Common Strategy:
- Development poles and axes and their no-continuations.
- Transport networks and their no-continuations (railways, roads, water transport).
- Technical infrastructure (networks and electrical energy installations, gas transmission network, crude oil transmission network).
- Socioeconomic spatial analysis (common demographic and social features, common economic features, spatial structure of the V4+2 countries).
- Environmental conditions (physical-geographical characteristics, geological characteristics, water, climatic conditions, flora and fauna, land use, nature and landscape protection).
- Spatial development barriers and possibilities of their elimination.
- Common territorial perspectives and priorities of the V4+2 countries.
The main aim of this document is to:
- contribute to the coordination and update of national spatial development documents, regional development, development of transport networks and technical infrastructure;
- support spatial cohesion in Europe;
- facilitate the coordination of various sectoral policies, which influence spatial development;
- provide the V4+2 countries with arguments and support during the discussions at the EU level regarding issues of spatial development policy, cohesion policy and transport and energy policies.
